Marlow & Ash

A dining room with a month-long wait deserved a digital front door that felt just as considered.

Speculative project

Independent speculative work created by Upwyre to demonstrate strategy, art direction, and interface craft.

Marlow & Ash had the food, room, and local following. Its old site made every visit feel like admin. We rebuilt the journey around appetite, atmosphere, and a reservation path guests could finish in seconds.

The system behind the feeling.

We treated the menu as editorial content, not a PDF attachment. Seasonal plates, the cellar, and private dining each received a clear place in the story. Warm serif details sit inside a restrained grid so the experience feels intimate without becoming precious.

What changes on the screen.

The new site opens with the room in motion, then moves quickly to availability. Repeat guests can book in one tap. First-time visitors can linger over the menu, meet the chef, or plan a larger table without losing their place.

Modeled opportunity, not a reported client result

mobile reservations

The concept models a 41 percent increase in completed mobile reservations as the commercial target. It is a design scenario, not a reported client result.

Inside the concept

Five decisions, one coherent system.

Each screen is a coded design artifact. The sequence shows how the commercial argument becomes an interface.

Tonight at a glance

Live service hours and the next available seating sit above the fold without crowding the story.

02 / Offer architecture

A menu built to change

The kitchen can update dishes and tasting notes without rebuilding a static PDF.

03 / Proof system

Private tables, clarified

Group dining options surface capacity, atmosphere, and inquiry details in one calm flow.

04 / Conversion path

Local intent captured

Structured location and menu data help nearby diners find the right page at the right moment.

05 / Mobile rhythm

Booking without friction

A persistent reservation action stays useful across every viewport and never interrupts browsing.

What teams ask before we start.

See All FAQs

We work best with founder-led and marketing-led teams that have a real offer, a decision-maker in the room, and a website problem tied to growth or operations.

Choose a plan, enter the active queue, and send requests as priorities change. We work on a focused number of items at once, share progress clearly, and you can pause or cancel before the next cycle.

Yes. Most engagements include positioning, information architecture, interface design, implementation, technical SEO, and launch support. We scope specialist needs before work begins.

Yes. We design the content model and publishing workflow around the people who will maintain it, then document the parts that need occasional technical care.

Often. We begin with the business problem and current constraints. A focused performance, conversion, content, or search sprint may create more value than a full rebuild.

We monitor the release, correct issues, review early behavior, and can continue with testing, SEO, publishing support, and product improvements through a maintenance plan.

Your business deserves its own visual world.

The Concept Lab shows the craft. Your engagement starts with your actual audience, evidence, and commercial problem.
